I am 808 is a place where music lovers, lifestyle and eccentricity blend into a beautiful melting pot. I am 808 is not just about an influential drum machine, it's a way of life.

Nothing is real; does red mean stop or have you been taught that?

31st of May!!!

If you enjoy listening to the likes of Slum Village, Wu Tang, Artful Dodger, Dj EZ, Shanks & Bigfoot, Missy Elliot, Dr Dre, N.O.R.E, J Dilla, Jazzy Jeff, Lil Kim, Jaylib, D’angelo, Method Man, Mario, Donell Jones, Nas Erik Sermon, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Blackstreet, Lucy Pearl….(you get my gist) then this is is the night for you. Strictly Old School vibes!

Bring a spare pair of pants, it’s going to get messy and sweaty!

Because We Can

Teriush Nash gives us yet another reason to anticipate his forthcoming album by releasing the visuals for the title track ‘IV Play’. With Director X behind the camera (think Drake’s ‘Started From The Bottom’), complete with helicopters and a plethora of sexy women, this video fits the track perfectly.

I’m having a throwback moment featuring Jodeci, it’s so good I can even forget that ‘TRON’ ever happened. Cop the album on May 28th.

edge-electric:

Slick track from Mount Kimbie released ahead on the album, and doesn’t disappoint. Really cool collab with King Krule, makes for an interesting, moody song.

Check out some more King Krule, with Rock Bottom if you’re into that kind of thing, sounds a lot like a less coherent Pete Doherty…

17 year old Lorde from New Zealand has recently arrived on my radar, I love her look, her vocals and this track ‘Royals’. It’s the first track taken from her EP ‘The Love Club' get involved.

New start-up brand Mr Ceezy introduces their launch sneaker, the Grand Howard. Founded in Baltimore, the Grand Howard was created for the people that are not afraid to stand up, stand out and blaze their own path in life. Making a style and substance statement away from the typical mainstream products, Mr Ceezy looks to design unique pieces that match your lifestyle.

The Grand Howard draped in all black, with the 2 fingers up in the back, is a clean premium sneaker with a twist. The all-leather sneaker has an adjustable strap, gold lace-tips and a padded collar for comfort. Releasing in the fall of 2013 you can check them and the rest of the line out at mrceezy.com.

Mr Ceezy is set to make their own lane in the design game and wants to inspire their followers to go out and get it, chase your dreams and if you someone gets in the way just Fuck Em!

Filmmaker Khalil Joseph and Flying Lotus have teamed up again for his latest short ‘Wildcat’.

Having recently disovered Twigs, I can say that I’ve already been on quite the journey with her four-track EP, which was released back in December. Her haunting vocals are paired up with minimal base with a sultry vibe, likened to something Burial might produce. Her videos are creative, obscure and captivating, ‘How’s That’ is no exception. The London singer and producer remains under the radar, there is however, a rumour that a new EP is on it’s way alongside producer Arca.

The legendary Rakim talks about the early days, his career and the shift in lyricism with Red Bull Music Academy in New York. A must watch!

Following on from ‘Truly Yours’ in February, J.Cole is back with this six-track project featuring Young Jeezy and 2 Chainz. Produced largely by himself, Jake One and Canei Finch, ‘Truly Yours 2’ is available to stream and download.

Azealia Banks releases the video for her track ‘Yung Rapunxel’ - first single off her upcoming debut album ‘Broke With Expensive Taste’. Lyrically and visually this is a very different Azealia than what we’re used to. Check out this trippy, dark and anarchic video, directed by Jam Sutton.

Drake’s been busy, just hours after the DJ Khaled track ‘No New Friends' appeared he released 'Girls Love Beyonce'. Featuring the smooth vocals of James Fauntleroy, the lyrics melt over the 90s beat produced by 40 –   a perfect combination. Can we leave the Say My Name sample alone now?
